Following an initial career in Civil Engineering, Michael graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 2005 and went on to gain broad clinical experience across Southeast Queensland and overseas in Ireland. He completed his specialist anaesthesia training in 2016 at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, with additional training across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and Darwin.

Michael has worked extensively in both public and private settings. During his time as a Staff Specialist in the public system, he was actively involved in teaching, quality improvement, and mentoring junior doctors. He has a strong interest in education and has undertaken further postgraduate study in this area. Clinically, he has particular interest in regional and airway anaesthesia.

Now focused on private practice, Michael provides anaesthetic care across Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. He works across a broad range of specialties including orthopaedics (upper and lower limb), obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, ENT, urology, and general and bariatric surgery. He is experienced in the use of ultrasound for nerve blocks and vascular access, supporting safe and effective patient care.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys. When he’s not in theatre, you’ll likely find him fishing, paddling his surf ski, or getting his hands dirty in the garden.
